February 7th Super Museum Sunday
February 7th, 2010 - Free to Public
12:00 - 4:00pm
Receive free admission to Ships of the Sea Museum, one of 40 cultural institutions participating in a celebration of Georgia history, on Sunday, February 7th 2010. For an entire list of all Super Museum Sunday participants see the GHS website.

Planned (but not-yet-scheduled) Events

The West Broad Street School exhibition will open this spring, chronicling in text, photos and oral history the use of the Scarbrough House as the West Broad Street School, the first public school for African-American students in Savannah.

Other Museum News

The Museum website, www.shipsofthesea.org, continues to expand. Presently in process are an expanded links section, updated garden floor plan and annuals lists, information on the history of the West Broad Street School and a presentation on the slave ship Wanderer. A musical activities section including an akonting instructional video, akonting and banjo construction videos with written instructions and an information archive is also planned.

Later this year, look for the first in a series of yearly Museum broadside calendars featuring the photography of Richard Leo Johnson and Bill Bennett.
