Computer MouseRug
$15.00
This MouseRug design is a rendering by Antasia MacDonald of the Ships of the Sea Museum's atrium floorcloth. The floorcloth, completed in 1997, was designed by John Kraus and Mills Lane. This original pattern is a composite of designs found in John Goldicutt's "Specimens of Ancient Decoration in Pompeii", published in London in 1825.
Collections of ancient design elements such as this book Goldicutt often served as sourcebooks for floorcloth designs for the grand houses of the Regency period.
Floorcloths were the most popular decorative floor coverings of the 18th and 19th centuries, and were produced by priming, painting and varnishing large sheets of heavy canvas to simulate marbled, tiled, or carpeted surfaces.
