Currently available only in rare bookstores, the "Second Edition of Historic Savannah", published in 1979, contained listings of more than 1,250 buildings and over 800 photographs of buildings located in the Savannah National Historic Landmark District and Savannah Victorian National Register Historic District. Also included were the date of construction for each building, the identity of the original owners, the designer, when known, and dates of any significant alterations. A brief history of Historic Savannah Foundation and a chapter examining architectural trends in Savannah introduced the volume.
The Third Edition includes updated photographs of buildings featured in the Second Edition, and new information discovered through recent research. Significantly, this volume also contains a historical survey, maps and photographs form Savannah’s seven additional National Register Districts. The Third Edition is released in celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of Historic Savannah Foundation.
