Ships of the Sea Maple Grove

Supper at Sea: Superstition is an immersive benefit dinner at Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum inspired by the rituals, legends, and symbols that once guided sailors across uncertain waters. Set beneath the stars in the museum’s historic gardens, the evening weaves together art, craft, and cuisine in an elegant interpretation of a sailor’s feast—where maritime lore, good fortune, and creative tradition shape a shared experience both timeless and evocative.

The Experience

OPEN HOUSE / AUCTION PREVIEW | 3-5PM

TICKETED SUPPER | 6-9PM

As evening falls, guests are welcomed into the museum’s historic gardens for an alfresco gathering beneath the stars. Tables are set among winding paths and garden spaces, creating an intimate setting that invites conversation and connection. Throughout the night, maritime superstition quietly shapes the atmosphere—woven into art, craft, and ritual rather than overt display.

An exhibition of contemporary ceramic and fiber work draws inspiration from the skills once practiced aboard seafaring vessels, including knot-tying, net and sail making, basketry, and pottery. Created especially for Supper at Sea by local artists, these one-of-a-kind works are offered for purchase in a benefit silent auction.

The evening culminates in a refined sailor’s feast, thoughtfully prepared and served as a shared dining experience. Each course pays homage to the sea, reimagining maritime culinary traditions through locally inspired flavors and careful craft, turning supper into both celebration and story.
