SUPPER AT SEA - ALEXIS JAVIER PEREZ

Artist Biography

IMG_7962.png

Aje was born in Hartford, CT to Alexis Javier Perez Colón and Lourdes Matilde Santiago Mondesi. His father joined the Unites States Navy after his birth, where they then set sails on an adventure. He attended numerous schools near a variety of ocean shores until he was 11 years old, when their family, now including a younger brother, moved back to Hartford.

SCAD was the north star that led Aje to Savannah after high school, where in 2006, he graduated with a BFA in Fashion Design. Since then, he has lowered his sails on the marsh of Savannah where he has docked his vessel and woven himself into the fabric of Savannah via the soccer community and more so the arts, creating culture as a multidisciplinary artist who has exhibited, curated, collaborated, and installed numerous exhibitions and site-specific installations for over 10 years.

Aje is a co-founder of Sulfur Studios, now a project of the new non-profit Arts Southeast, and a co-founder of the Hispanic and Latin American arts collective Soy X Soy. Recently, he exhibited at the Telfair Museums’ Jepson Center for The Arts, for their #art912 program.
