SUPPER AT SEA - ANNE WEBER CALLAHAN

Artist Biography

Anne Weber Callahan Headshot.png

Anne is a designer based in Brooklyn, New York, creating custom, one-of-a-kind pieces that add unique character to any space. Her work is inspired by a sculptural approach to design, where each object combines form, function, and materiality.

Currently, Anne is developing a collection of ceramics that blur the boundaries between furniture and pottery. These pieces explore the relationship of texture, shape, and structure, creating objects that are both functional and visually striking.

Through her work, Anne aims to transform everyday objects into art, encouraging a deeper connection to the things we use and live with. Anne’s design philosophy is rooted in a belief that objects should tell stories and welcome emotion.

Center Sculpture Bowl 1

White stoneware sculptural bowl

This pair of sculptural ceramic bowls is inspired by the unique, uneven textures and contours found on the seafloor. Each bowl reflects the natural irregularities of the sea and its landscapes, from the soft undulations of sand to the jagged edges of rocks. The forms are not symmetrical but instead embrace the beauty of asymmetry, capturing the raw, organic chaos that defines the ocean. Surfaces are subtly rough and textured, some resembling the pitted patterns of coral, others offering the fluid, almost molten impressions of waves that have eroded the earth. The bowls feel as though they were shaped by their force of nature, their imperfections and variations celebrating the unpredictable yet harmonious formations of the sea floor. Each piece invites the viewer to explore the organic beauty of the natural world, finding comfort and intrigue in its natural state.
